Appeal for witnesses after man dies following hit and run

Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses after a man was killed in a hit and run in Dublin in Wednesday night.

28-year-old Karl Robertson was out jogging on Hazelwood Drive near his home when he was hit by a white Renault Megane van at 9.45pm.

The van fled the scene and a vehicle was found later burnt out nearby.

After receiving medical assistance at the scene, Karl was taken to Beaumont Hospital. He was pronounced dead last night.

A 30-year-old man has assisted officers with their inquiries at Coolock Garda Station.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses, particularly those who may have seen the van in the Coolock area before or after the collision.

They are also appealing for a couple, a taxi driver and a man - who were all in the area when the incident happened - to come forward.
