A man in his 20s is to appear before a sitting of Naas District Court, charged in connection with two violent robberies in Co Kildare.

He was arrested yesterday as part of Operation Thor, a garda operation targeting organised crime.

Last Saturday evening, at about 7.30pm, a female motorist was threatened at knife point by a man in Coill Dubh, near Naas.

The robber took a small amount of cash before making off on foot.

The following night, at about 6.30pm, a man armed with a crowbar entered a shop on the Main Street in Prosperous.

Again, a small amount of cash was taken.

No one was injured during the incident.
