A man charged over a €50,000 cash-in-transit heist in Dublin has been given one day bail to travel to a drug treatment centre in Co Mayo.

Dean Slattery from Briarfield Grove, Kilbarrack in Dublin was refused bail on two separate occasions as he awaits trial with two other men.

The 24-year-old is one of three men accused of robbing a cash box containing €50,000 after threatening a security worker who was making a routine delivery at a shopping centre in Raheny Village just before 5pm on April 28th.

The DPP has directed that the men should face trial before judge and jury.

Slattery has been in custody since his arrest and has been denied bail on two separate occasions.

He returned to the High Court today where he asked to be released for one day later this month so that he can attend an interview at a drug treatment centre in Knock, Co Mayo where he hopes to be deemed suitable for a one year residency.

With some reluctance, the judge granted his request and ordered for him to be released into his girlfriend's custody on the morning of October 29th to be returned to Cloverhill prison by 9 o'clock that night.
