A man arrested in connection with a fatal house fire in Dublin in has been released without charge.
A 44-year-old man died in the fire at Oakland’s Terrace, Rathgar at around 3am on Tuesday.
It is understood the man had originally escaped the flames before returning inside and suffering critical injuries from the fumes.
He was taken to St James Hospital where he died on Wednesday.
Three other people who were also in the flat survived with no injuries.
In a statement, gardaí said they are “investigating all of the circumstances around the fire” – amid reports it was the result of an arson attack.
The scene was sealed off a forensic examination has been carried out by the Garda Technical team.
A 30-year-old man was arrested in connection with the fire on Wednesday night.
He is believed to be from Lucan however he is currently homeless.
He has also been linked to a West Dublin gangland criminal.
Gardaí said he was released without charge this morning with a file being prepared for the DPP.
