A man arrested in connection with a serious assault on a 10 week old child has been released without charge from a County Louth Garda Station.

The girl, who was seriously injured in Ardee County Louth on Monday, remains in hospital this evening where she is being treated for head injuries and a number of broken bones.

A file will now be prepared for the information of the Director of Public Prosecutions who will determine if there are charges to be brought against the man.
