Police in California have arrested a man suspected of shooting dead two officers and wounding a third.
Authorities say they were trying to solve a family dispute when a man pulled out a gun and opened fire.
A statement from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said four officers responding to a report of a family disturbance were met with gunfire through the closed front door of a property in Palm Springs.
Police chief Bryan Reyes revealed details of the two fatalities:
Police say the suspect refused to surrender and exchanged gunfire with officers as he barricaded himself in his residence.
After a lengthy standoff, he surrendered peacefully to Riverside County Sheriff's Department SWAT team.
The suspect has been identified as 26-year-old, Palm Springs resident, John Felix.
Felix will be now charged with two counts of murder of a peace officer.
