A 50-year-old man has gone on trial for the attempted murder of a woman outside her home in Dublin’s south inner city.

Rose Kenny was left fighting for her life after being stabbed at the School Street Flats on September 23rd, 2014.

She was on her way to work at a nearby crèche.

Denis Leahy of Queen Street, Dublin 7, admits intentionally or recklessly causing her serious harm but has pleaded not guilty to her attempted murder.

A jury of nine men and three women has been sworn in to hear his trial which is expected to take up to five days.
