A man in his 30s was killed when the car he was driving collided with a van this morning.
The incident happened on the N4 between Edgeworthstown and Rathowen on the Longford-Westmeath border, at around 6am.
He was the sole occupant of the car, and was pronounced dead at scene.
The driver of the van, who is in his early 30s, was brought to Midlands Regional Hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries.
A section of the N4 is currently closed for a forensic examination, and diversions are in place.
