Residents of Dolphin's Barn and Rialto in Dublin have welcomed the Lord Mayor Christy Burke to launch the capital's latest community garden.
Flanagan's Fields Community Gardens occupies the land once home to Fatima Mansions, and the project been developed over the last three years by the local community and organisations.
Dublin City Council, who assisted with the development, says "the garden is maintained through organic gardening practices which include biodiversity and companion gardening techniques. It is a learning ground for youth projects, schools and interested groups in the area and provides an area for workshops for new community gardening ideas."
The garden also hosts the city's first geodesic grow dome, which is able to grow 1000 lettuces a week:
