Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil will each win a seat. With Jack Wall having retired (having seen the writing on the wall - pun intended) it falls to his son Mark to keep the Labour seat that has been there since 1997. While he will still retain a decent vote in the Athy area, he will struggle in the north of the constituency.
Fianna Fáil has added Cllr Fiona O’Loughlin to challenge her nemesis Fiona McLoughlin-Healy - who is seen as a rising star in Fine Gael - resulting in one of the more fascinating contests nationally.
This will also ensure that sitting TDs Seán O'Fearghail and Martin Heydon will spend the next few weeks looking over their shoulder.
Possible result is 2 FG (+1), 1 FF, 0 LAB (-1).
Ivan's Take: Yates is calling the result as one Fine Gael, one Fianna Fáil, with Labour newcomer Mark Wall taking the last seat.
