Kerry is back in the spotlight with the first official look at the next movie in the 'Star Wars' franchise.

A teaser trailer for 'The Last Jedi' was revealed Friday at a panel screening attended by cast in Orlando.

It has since been viewed over 15 million times in less than 24 hours.

The trailer features footage shot at Skellig Michael and at Ceann Sibeál on the Dingle Peninsula.

A major story segment of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' was filmed on Skellig Michael in south Kerry in 2015.

Filming returned to Kerry last year - this time to Ceann Sibeál on the Dingle Peninsula - where a large film set was constructed on the headland overlooking the Blasket Islands.

Actors Mark Hamill, Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley filmed 'pivotal scenes' there, including a fight scene and crash scene.

Chewbacca visited a local school during the shoot, and cast and crew celebrated their wrap party in Foxy John's Pub in Dingle.

Friday's unveiling of the new teaser trailer for The Last Jedi features overhead footages of the Skelligs and Ceann Sibeál.

Filming also took place in Donegal and West Cork last year.

Speaking at the panel screening yesterday, actress Daisy Ridley - who also filmed scenes in Kerry in 2015 - said it was great to come back.

"That picture was shot in Ireland, we had the most incredible time.

"Coming back the second time I felt a certain responsibility - I was like 'I should know what I'm doing now, and I kind of don't'.

"But luckily Ryan's writing is beautiful, the film I think is great and we had the best time".

'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' is released on December 15th.
