John Gilligan has been arrested in Northern Ireland and charged with money laundering offences.

The 66-year-old from Dublin was detained at Belfast International Airport while attempting to board a flight to Spain.

Border patrol officers recovered €23,000 at the scene, according to the UK's National Crime Agency.

He appeared before Coleraine Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody.

He's due to appear in court again before Antrim Magistrates Court on Tuesday September 4th.
