Jaguar Land Rover has announced that all of its vehicles will be electrified from 2020.

It follows a similar decision by Volvo earlier this year.

The latest announcement means that all Jaguar Land Rover's vehicles from the end of the decade will either have a hybrid or fully electric engine.

Dr Ralf Speth, the company's CEO, explained: "We will introduce a portfolio of electrified products across our model range, embracing fully electric, plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid vehicles."

He also called on authorities to deliver the necessary infrastructure to support electric vehicles, with the UK-based company singling out the British government.

He suggested: "We as a company can deliver electric vehicles. Where is the network of charging points that they will require to function? Indeed, where is the power grid that will allow us to build them?

"We know the levels of connectivity that will be needed in the future. To allow autonomous vehicles. Freeing individuals. Increasing productivity. Reducing accidents."

The company's first fully electric SUV, the Jaguar I-PACE, will go on sale next year.
