After a bad start to July, temperatures are set to reach as high as 25 degrees over the weekend.

However, Met Éireann also predicts some showers in parts of Munster and Leinster tomorrow.

This evening is expected to be warm and dry and the best of the weather is forecast for Sunday.

Meteorologist with Met Eireann, Evelyn Cusack, says the muggy conditions are also here to stay.

"Quite warm and humid for the weekend, but a little bit mixed - not sunny everywhere, but nice and summery," she explained.

There's plenty of events happening in Ireland this weekend for those looking to get out and about, including the Longitude festival in Dublin's Marlay Park.
