A woman and a seven-year-old boy, believed to be Irish, have been found dead at a house in London.

Officers called to the house in The Fairway, Ruislip just before 11.00am on Wednesday morning.

It comes after concerns were raised for the welfare of the people in the house.

Inside, officers found the bodies of a 37-year-old woman and a seven-year-old boy.

The Metropolitian Police say next of kin have been informed.

Post-mortem examinations are scheduled for Friday.

Although formal identification has yet to take place, detectives believe the deceased are Sinead Higgins and her son Oisin O'Driscoll.

Detective Inspector Dave Bolton said: "The investigation is at a very early stage but enquiries so far lead us to believe there is a likelihood that the tragic events that led to the deaths do not involve a third party.

"We are appealing to anyone who has any information to come and speak with us."

A Twitter account said to be linked to Ms Higgins last posted on December 9th.
