A group of Irish students are alleged to have 'trashed' an apartment in San Francisco before leaving the country.

Landlord Ritu Vohra said she was left "speechless" when she discovered the state of the apartment.

"They've just smashed the house," she told CBS SF Bay Area. "Glass is broken here... broken chandeliers. How do you get it off the ceiling unless you've swung from it or something. How do you explain breaking through a wall?"

She also discovered dirty underwear, used condoms and other rubbish strewn over the apartment.

"This is mini-terrorism... this is an act of terrorism on me, when you destroy my house like that" she told reporters.

The students who were staying in the apartment are said to have left the country. The CBS anchor says the Irish consulate has been contacted about the discovery and "the offending students could be prohibited from ever returning to the United States".
