The number of people at work in Ireland has reached its highest level since the recession hit in late 2008.

The latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) show that 2.04 million people were at work in the third quarter of this year.

It's the 15th quarter in a row that the CSO has recorded growth in the number of people at work, and the highest number in eight years.

The CSO also says a revision in its figures means the unemployment rate for October stood at 7.5%, lower than its original estimate.

That's after the number of unemployed fell by 10,000, while the number of 'under-employed' workers fell by 14,000.
