Irish Water requests extension of deadline for application forms

Irish Water has requested an extension of the deadline for application forms.

The Commission for Energy Regulation has confirmed that it has received the request - and it's likely to make a decision over the next week or so.

Currently, the deadline is 31st October for householders to send in their allowance forms, which includes the requirement for a PPS number.

However, there is also a 60 day "look back" period which mean if forms are submitted by the end of November, the allowances from 1st October will apply.

It's not clear how long an extension Irish Water is now seeking from the CER.

The news comes as claims arose last night that some Irish Water employees may be entitled to bonuses.

The utility company says it doesn't have a bonus scheme - instead it claims it has a performance related awards scheme for employees.

Staff will be subject to a review in mid-2015. Depending on their performance, they may or may not be entitled to this award.
