Irish Netflix users are being warned to stay safe as a phishing scam targeting Irish users have been discovered.

A mail imitating the streaming giant with the subject, 'Netflix cancellation' is doing the rounds and trying to trick people into handing over personal information, including the details of the card that they use to pay for their subscriptions.

"We're sorry to say goodbye. We've cancelled your Netflix Account. This change will be effective . If you’ve changed your mind and you would like to continue, simply click here: to enjoy TV shows & movies without interruption.

"We hope you enjoyed the service – and we'd love to have you back someday," the fake mail states.

It is signed off by "The Netflix Team."

This tip-off comes from ESET Ireland, an online security firm.

It has identified similar mails mimicking Revenue, AIB, Bank of Ireland, PayPal, and iTunes.

Phishing is the practice of baiting people online to convince them to share personal information such as card details.
