Independent TD Joan Collins, is encouraging industrial unrest within the public transport sector.
Collins claims that SIPTU should be rallying their members in Irish Rail and Dublin Bus for strike action in order to show support for workers embroiled in the Luas debacle.
Luas drivers are expected to go ahead with industrial action on Wednesday, in a series of rolling strikes over pay hikes.
Speaking about her proposal, Joan Collins said:
"I think what SIPTU should be doing is going to those workers in Irish Rail and Dublin Bus and ballot for industrial action and come out behind the Luas workers. The workers don't get what they want - their pay claim and that's going to impact on the workers in Irish rail as well."
Meanwhile, SIPTU divisional organiser Owen Reidy, said at the weekend that further strikes are scheduled to take place on the May 13, 20 and 26, in addition to tomorrow's industrial action.
