The ongoing battle against flooding leads most papers this morning with the Irish Times carrying an image of Minister Simon Coveney battling flood waters.

That paper also goes with: "Ceann Comhairle to be elected by secret ballot".

The Irish Independent leads with "Labour woos the wealthy" while The Irish Examiner's headline deals with the ongoing issues in the health system. "Rotunda master: Change laws on abortion" is their headline.

The Irish Daily Mail runs the same story under the headline: "Health service failing women".

The Herald have the story of a mother of two who was hit by a car in Clonsilla in Dublin over the weekend.

And The Irish Daily Mail says Star Wars will not be coming back to Skellig Michael.

Inside the papers:

Today is D-day - Divorce Day that is. Apparently Christmas brings conflicts in relationship to a head and today a huge number of people will seek legal advice on how to end their union. Celebs, by the way, are six times more likely to divorce.

A report on where Irish people are being arrested around the world features in The Irish Times. 40 countries including Georgia, Serbia, Finland, Laos, Guyana, Spain and the UAE feature. We are most often arrested for public order offences, and for behaviour deemed to be inappropriate by foreign cultures.

The Irish Independent says more and more Councils around the country want us to park by text. Cork County Council has done a report on this, showing just how expensive meters are. It costs local authorities 70K to run a text service versus €600,000 to run a metered service.

The Daily Mail says women worry eight times a day about how they look - being fat, having messy hair and feeling scruffy among their top concerns about their appearance.
