George Hook broke down on today's Right Hook as he spoke about hate mail he has been receiving, and the incredible level of support he had received from strangers.

Earlier this week George spoke about how hate mail affects him, about how he has received messages of hatred to his workplace and his home.

George had recently been in a car accident, and one person wrote to him telling him it was “too bad your head wasn’t between the bumpers.”

Today on the Right Hook George returned to the topic of hate mail, and how it affects him when he receives the letters.

“Can I talk to you about hate mail for a minute?,” he asked listeners.

“I got another one, hand-written this time to the office. Same sort of stuff, why don’t you retire and all that,” he said.

“I have to tell you, it’s hard. No matter who you are, if somebody tells you you’re out of touch or you’re a fool ... the last fella brought up all the old chestnuts about failing at business and borrowing money from my friends and all that sort of stuff.

“What is really amazing is that this guy went for the old chestnut as well that I even failed when I tried to kill myself. 

“Do people have any idea at all when they write these kind of letters what it does to you?”

Later in the show George returned to the subject. Since he had spoken about the hate mail he received listeners had sent a deluge of messages of support, and it proved a little too much for George, who broke down momentarily as he thanked those who had texted and emailed into the show to support him.
