Munster picked up a dramatic 21 - 20 win over Ulster in the Pro 12 tonight to go top of the table.

The province made up for a poor start on the scoreboard and also had to hold on at the end as Ulster rallied.

Four successful penalties from Ian Humphreys had helped Ulster into as commanding lead after the opening 20 minutes in Limerick.

But a try from flanker Robin Copeland helped Munster to reduce that gap to just four points before half-time.

And a superb individual try from scrum-half Duncan Williams shortly after the restart kick-started the home side, who went on to dominate the second half.

However, there was almost a sting in the tail. Ulster scored a last minute try through Nick Williams which was confirmed by the TM0 to leave Ulster one point behind.

But Humphreys missed his conversion to leave Munster victorious.
