Mobile World Congress officially gets underway on Monday morning, but some firms have already taken to the stage to unveil their next flagship products. One of the first out of the traps was Huawei. The firm is looking to build upon the success of its P9.

The Huawei P10 is the immediate successor to the P9, with some major internal upgrades. The P10 has a Kirin 960 chipset, the powerful processor used in the recent Huawei Mate 9 and 4GB of RAM to ensure users can multi-task with ease. There is only one storage option on the new P10 - 64GB. This device does support a microSD card, however, making it possible to increase that up to 256GB. It also has a 3200mAh battery.

The P10 boasts a 5.1-inch, 1,920 x 1,080 screen. While the design does not look too different from its predecessor, the firm has added a new series of colours to the line up, through their partnership with Pantone Color Insititute.

The P10+ comes equipped with 5.5-inch screen, coated in Gorilla Glass 5. The larger of the two devices will be available with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage and a version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space. The P10+ will be powered by a 3750mAh battery and supports 'SuperCharge'.

The most impressive feature of both new Huawei devices is the Leica camera technology. The P10 and P10+ are the first smartphones to have a Leica front camera, which compliments the Leica Dual rear camera. A statement issued on behalf of Huawei highlighted some of the standout aspects of the new camera technology.

"By utilising the world’s most advanced photographic technology to create modern artistic portraits in Leica’s signature image style, the HUAWEI P10 and P10+ put all the tools of an artistic studio in your pocket. With features including studio-like re-lighting and 3D facial detection technology, you are able to produce beautiful photography results in any environment."

Availability in Ireland:

The Huawei P10 will be available in Ireland in Graphite Black and Mystic Silver from mid March via online pre-registration with an exclusive HUAWEI Accessory Gift Box worth €149.99 in all major channels and available in retail stores from April 4th.

The Huawei P10+ will be available in Graphite Black exclusively from Three, for a limited time only from mid-April and all major channels from May.
