€4.5m worth of herbal cannabis has been seized by Revenue at Dublin Port.

The cannabis - which had been double vacuum packed - was found concealed in more than a thousand catering tins of olives in oil.

Officers believe the drugs originated in Spain and were destined for the UK.

Investigations are continuing here with international enquiries ongoing in Spain and the UK.
