Gucci's Irish division enjoyed a three-fold increase in sales to €3.9m in the year to last February.

The 190% increase in revenues at the leading luxury fashion brand saw it return to the black and record pre-tax profits of €41,336 in the 12 months to the end of February. This followed a pre-tax loss of €87,901 in the prior year.

According to the directors of the company, the sales boost principally reflected the growth in tourism numbers here during that time, with a "significant proportion" of the performance linked to overseas visitors.

Many would have made their purchases at Gucci’s new store at Kildare Village, which opened in July 2015.

Looking to the future, the directors said that they "continue to work towards increasing our market share by focusing on the achievement of an organic growth on the existing store network, providing an excellent retail experience to our customers and optimizing the merchandise available for sale, along with investing in our store portfolio."
