Gardaí uncover cocaine worth €70,000 in Tipperary

Two people have been arrested after gardaí seized cocaine with an estimated value of €70,000 in Tipperary.

Gardaí uncovered the drugs after they stopped and searched a car in Birdhill yesterday.

Further searches were then carried out at a house in Newmarket-on-Fergus where drug paraphernalia including a weighing scales and packaging were discovered.

A man in his 30s and woman in her 20s were arrested during the operation, and are currently being detained at Shannon Garda station.

They can be held for up to seven days.

The investigation is ongoing.
