Gardaí have arrested 10 people and seized 14 cars at a number of checkpoints on the M1 motorway and in the Balbriggan area of Dublin on Sunday morning.
The checkpoint, close to Junction 6, saw the seizure of 11,000 cigarettes and the seizure of 14 cars for breaches of the Road Traffic Act.
As part of Operation Thor the checkpoint was established with the aim of targeting criminals using the motorway network, as well as the sale of stolen goods at Christmas markets.
Of the 10 arrests, gardaí say one was arrested for the aforementioned cigarettes, one man was detained on a European Arrest Warrant, and seven people were arrested for drink driving.
The Divisional Crime Task Force and Detective units from Santry conducted the checkpoints, along with the assistance of Traffic Units from Dublin Castle and DMR North.
Correction: An earlier version of this story put the date of checkpoint as December 21
