Two men arrested as part of an investigation into a fatal assault in County Cork have been released without charge.

Gardaí said the investigation is ongoing and a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The body of a 40-year-old man, believed to be a Polish national, was found late on Tuesday night at a truck parking area of a garage in Fermoy, Cork.

It is understood he died after being attacked with a baseball bat.

The body of the deceased was removed from the scene to Cork University Hospital where a post mortem was due to take place on Wednesday evening.

The two men who were arrested are aged in their early 40s and late 20s.

Investigating Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses and in particular anyone who was in the vicinity of Pyke Road/Dublin Road between the hours of 8.30pm and 10.30pm on  Tuesday 21st February.
