A former Justice Ministerial adviser says there is a lack of coordination between the Department of Justice and An Garda Síochána.

Questions are still being asked about the handling of the garda whistleblower Sergeant Maurice McCabe, following the publication of the O'Higgins Report.

There have been calls for the Garda Commissioner Noirin O'Sullivan to clarify her position following the investigation.

She has been asked to clear up questions about her evidence to the O'Higgins Commission, which investigated corruption claims made by Sergeant McCabe.

Cormac Lucey was an adviser to the former Justice Minister Micheal McDowell from 2002 until 2007.

Mr Lucey says the fallout from the O'Higgins report shows that relationship between the Department of Justice and Garda management needs to be more coordinated.

His comments come as further allegations of garda malpractice are being made.

The Sunday Business Post reports a new whistleblower from a Midlands division of the force has come forward.

The newspaper reports another garda has written to the Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald this week to outline his experience of whistleblowing.
