He escaped uninjured.

The shooter fled the scene in a red car, and a car was later found burned out nearby.

A 32-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and is being held at Store Street Garda Station.

Local Sinn Féin Councillor Janice Boylan, says parents in the local area were concerned for their children who were out playing at the time.

"Parents are just so scared," she explained.

"When the noise of the shots that were fired rang out, parents just ran out of the house to gather up their children, some as young as five or six."

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was in the area to contact them in the Bridewell on 01-666-8000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111, or any Garda station.
