Reports of "an affray" on the Dublin to Belfast Enterprise train on Saturday are under investigation by train operator Translink.

Gardaí boarded the train in Drogheda at around 22:20pm as GAA fans returned from the All Ireland SFC Quarter Final between Tyrone and Armagh in Croke Park.

There were reports that some passengers were involved in an altercation on board and Gardaí were called to calm the situation down.

A garda spokesperson said officers from Drogheda Garda Station spoke to a number of passengers – however no complaints were made and no arrests were made.

Translink said gardaí were called after a train manager raised concerns – and a number of passengers were removed.

The train left the station a short time later without further incident.
