Members of the Garda Representative Association (GRA) are to be balloted on roster changes.
It is part of a an overall review of Garda pay under the Haddington Road process.
GRA members will receive ballot papers on roster changes in the coming days.
The GRA says endorsing the proposed Working Time Agreement (WTA) demonstrates the association's ability to negotiate a comprehensive and beneficial agreement.
The association says applying a similar approach is the best way to progress the primary objective of pay restoration.
Dermot O’Brien, President of the Garda Representative Association, said in a statement that “the pay restoration process has been on-going for some time... The GRA urges the membership to keep pay and rosters separate.
"The proposed WTA and revised roster changes are beneficial to members and delaying their introduction would be counter-productive," he added.
