Ex-Anglo Irish Bank chief executive David Drumm will begin a new bid to be released from custody in the United States today, he was been held since October 10th.

He will appear before the Boston District Court and appeal his refusal of bail on the grounds that while he remains in custody he is subject to continued safety risks.

The former banker is wanted in Ireland to face 33 criminal charges which relate to transactions carried out while he was in charge of Anglo Irish Bank.

The Dubliner is currently being held in a maximum security prison, he faces an extradition hearing in March.

He was refused release before the pending extradition hearing as the judge ruled that he has "an incentive to flee," given the serious nature of the charges that Mr Drumm faces in Ireland

In November, he made a personal appeal to a Massachusetts Court to be released and held under house arrest until his hearing.
