North Korea's failed missile attempt; Fine Gael back on top in opinion poll; Turkey votes "Yes" in referendum
North Korea has made a failed attempt to launch a missile just hours after telling the US it was prepared for war.
The launch attempt took place in the Sinpo area of the North, a day after a huge military parade took place in Pyongyang.
The US military said the launch took place at 10.21pm Irish time (5.51am local time) but the missile "blew up almost immediately".
Fine Gael has moved ahead of Fianna Fáil in the latest Sunday Times Behaviour and Attitude Poll.
The poll was conducted between March 30th and April 11th when the water charges debate, the fake breath tests and Bus Éireann strike were dominating headlines.
Fine Gael returns to being the most popular party, gaining seven points to 29%.
That is just behind is Fianna Fáil, who is unchanged on 28%.
Audi, BMW and Volkswagen are recalling several models of vehicles in Ireland due to concerns over airbags.
Audi is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain models of the A1, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q5 and Q7 manufactured between 18/07/2016 and 14/10/2016.
It says as the result of a change in the production process, the airbag and belt tensioner igniters were manufactured without strict adherence to the prescribed tolerances.
The amount of UK applications for Irish passports has increased by 70%.
Between January and March 2017, 51,000 applications were received from the UK, compared to 30,000 last year.
Overall, there has been a surge in passport applications with the number of those applying for Irish passports in the first three months of this year up 26% from the same time last year.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has claimed victory in a historic referendum which will grant him sweeping new powers.
State-run Anadolu news agency said the President narrowly won with YES at 51.4% and NO at 48.7%.
The changes will replace Turkey's parliamentary system of government with a presidential one and could see Mr Erdogan remain in office until at least 2029.
