Three new opinion polls have offered mixed news for Fine Gael.

In the polls, Enda Kenny’s party gained two points in one while dropping three points in another and two in a third.

The Red C poll in today's Sunday Business Post gives the Coalition a reasonable chance of re-election, with combined support for the coalition at 41%.

Fine Gael rises 3 points to 31%, their first increase in polling support since the New Year, while Labour remain unchanged on 10%.

The poll, which sampled just over 1,000 adults between Monday and Wednesday, also has Sinn Féin drop 2 points to 17%, leaving them level with Fianna Fáil, who remain unchanged since last week.

The Social Democrats rise 1 point to 3% and the Greens drop 1 point to 2%.

Renua are unchanged at 1%, as are Anti-Austerity Alliance/People Before Profit at 3%, and other independent candidates on 16% collectively.

However the good news for Fine Gael is not replicated in the Behaviour & Attitudes poll for the Sunday Times.

That poll of 1,011 voters was taken over Monday and Tuesday, and has Fine Gael down by 3 points when compared to the last edition three weeks ago.

There, Fianna Fáil are unchanged on 20%, while Sinn Féin gain 1 point to 17%, and Labour gain 2 to 8%.

Independents fall 1 to 14% and the Social Democrats rise 3 points to 4%. The Greens and Anti-Austerity Alliance/People Before Profit are on 3%, Renua on 2%, the Workers Party on 1%.

Meanwhile, a Millward Brown poll for today's Sunday Independent shows Fine Gael support at 27%, down two points from their last poll three months ago.

According to this third poll, Fianna Fáil is down 2 points to 22%, while Sinn Féin is unchanged on 21%.

Labour is down 1 point to 6%, while support for other parties and independents is up 3 points to 23%.

The poll of 984 adults was carried out over 11 days up to last Thursday.

All polls have an approximate margin of error of 3%.

Reaction

On the back of the poll, Labour minister Alex White says they have no concerns that Fine Gael could ditch them in order to make up the numbers with another party.

Former Minister Ruairi Quinn says we shouldn't pay too much attention to the pollsters.
