The Food Safety Authority ordered ten businesses to stop certain activities last month due to breaches in food related health and safety.
Restaurants, take aways, a hotel and a bakery were among those impacted.
One prohibition order was also served, under EC legislation, of the Ahmed Foods wholesaler in Blanchardstown.
The HSE also carried out a prosecution of Kearney's Castle Hotel in Cashel, Co Tipperary, for breaches relating to food hygiene.
Three businesses were served with closure orders under the FSAI Act 1998:
• The Millrace Hotel (closed activity: all food preparation and service activities in and from the kitchen and ancillary stores and in the main bar and the store room at the rear of the main bar) in Bunclody, Wexford
• Milebush Bar and Restaurant (closed activity: preparation and service of food only) in Portlaoise, Laois
• Fryer's (take away) in Boyle, Roscommon
Meanwhile seven closure orders were served under EC regulations:
• Posh Nosh (restaurant) in Balbriggan, Dublin
• Craigs Fresh (wholesale) in Drumnabratty, Raphoe, Donegal
• Carpenters Butchers (closed activity: the cooking and handling of cooked chickens in the premises) in Kells, Meath
• Tamarind Thai Restaurant in Tralee, Kerry
• Indie at Home (take away) in Swords, Co Dublin
• La Boulangerie des Gourmets (bakery) in Finglas, Dublin 11
• Beachview Tandoori (take away) in Laytown, Meath
Dr Pamela Byrne, Chief Executive of the FSAI, said, “there can be no justification for these breaches, which can potentially put consumers’ health at risk and undermine the confidence they should expect to have in the safety of the food they eat.
"This has serious negative implications not only for the individual businesses involved, but for the wider food industry," she added.
