An exclusion zone remains in place around the Primark store in Belfast destroyed in a fire yesterday.

The historic Bank Building was gutted as a result of the blaze, which broke out at around 11am yesterday morning.

Yesterday's blaze came as workers were nearing the end of a multi-million euro refurbishment of the historic building, which dates back to 1787.

More than 30 firefighters remain at the scene as the operation to fully extinguish the fire continues.

A 45-metre exclusion zone has been set up around the building, with fire crews to remain at the scene throughout Wednesday.

Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said there has been 'strucutral collapse' within the building today, and there are still fears that parts of the building's exterior could collapse.

Engineers, meanwhile, are examining the building to determine the integrity of the remaining structures.

Diversions remain in place in Belfast city centre as a result of the blaze and continuing firefighting effort, with motorists and bus passengers being warned of delays.

Officials are meeting in Belfast this afternoon to discuss what can be done to support staff affected by the fire.

Primark CEO Paul Marchant yesterday said they were 'shocked and saddened' by the fire, stressing that the team in Belfast would be 'fully supported'.
