Simon Harris to push for cystic fibrosis drug Orkambi at EU talks

The health minister is to highlight the use of cystic fibrosis drug Orkambi during talks with other European ministers.

Simon Harris will attend a round table meeting in Lisbon on Wednesday to discuss drug pricing.

Speaking in advance of the meeting, Minister Harris said: "When I became minister for health, I identified the need to work with other countries on the issue of drug pricing as a priority."

The leader of Sinn Féin Gerry Adams says he will make a Dáil speech explaining what he knows about the murder of Portlaoise Prison chief, Brian Stack.

Mr Stack was shot by the IRA in 1983 and died 18 months later.

Deputy Adams was today challenged to make a statement, after claims he had helped the family of Brian Stack make contact with an IRA official who oversaw an internal investigation.

Katie Taylor will be taking a big step up in class this weekend when she faces Vivianne Obenauf in her second professional fight.

Taylor will be fighting on the undercard of Anthony Joshua's IBF heavyweight title defence against Eric Molina at the Manchester Arena this Saturday.

Taylor fought journeywoman Karina Kopinska in her pro debut a couple of weeks ago and cruised to a comfortable third round stoppage.

Second review announced of An Post amid "difficult financial situation"

The Government is to undertake a second review of An Post.

The CEO of An Post, David McRedmond, says international consultants McKinsey & Company will oversee the operation.

It will see a root and branch review of the company "to identify the structural changes necessary to restore the company to a sound financial footing".

A similar report, spearheaded by Newstalk broadcaster Bobby Kerr, was published in January of this year.
