Eir will spend €50 million on upgrading its 4G coverage across the country.
The network operator will spend the money over the next 9 months to create 100 new mobile sites.
This investment will expand eir's 4G coverage from 81% to 95% of the country's population.
Eir has already spent over €300 million on its mobile network over the past four years. They will continue a site-sharing agreement with rival operator Three over their new expanded network.
The boosted network will look to improve mobile connections in rural areas as well as providing stronger signals in densely populated urban areas such as central Dublin.
