US President Donald Trump has offered the British Prime Minister his "unwavering support" following the London attack.
Speaking at an annual fundraiser for Ford's Theatre in Washington DC, President Trump said the US "will do everything in our power to assist the United Kingdom and its citizens as they work to protect their country and to bring those that are guilty to justice."
Standing on stage with his wife and First Lady Melania last night, Mr Trump said he had spoken with British Prime Minister Theresa May and "expressed our unwavering support for our allies in the United Kingdom."
"America sends our thoughts, our prayers and our deepest sympathies to the victims of this evil slaughter and we renew our resolve - stronger than ever before - to protect the United States and its allies from a vile enemy that has waged war on innocent life and it's gone on too long,” he said.
"This bloodshed must end, this bloodshed will end."
Twitter controversy
The US president avoided mentioning his Sunday morning Twitter outbursts that used the massacre to push for the reinstatement of his travel ban on people from mainly Muslim countries entering the US.
In a series of tweets, President Trump also appeared to criticise London Mayor Sadiq Khan for his response to the attack.
His comments came after Mr Khan told Londoners that they would see an increased police presence in the days following the attacks - adding that they should not be alarmed by this.
Mr Trump responded to the statement by tweeting: "At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is 'no reason to be alarmed!'"

A spokesperson for Mr Khan accused President Trump of “deliberately” taking the mayor’s comments out of context.
He said the Mr Khan had "more important things to do than respond to Donald Trump's ill-informed tweet."
By Sunday evening, the acting US ambassador Lewis Lukens tweeted a clip of Mr Khan's statement with his own comment:

Seven people were killed and 48 injured in central London during the attack on Saturday night.
There are a number of foreign nationals among the injured – with 21 people in a critical condition in hospital.
