Comedian Des Bishop has revealed he will be taking part in 'Dancing with the Stars'.

He is the first of 11 celebrities confirmed to waltz and rumba their way across the dancefloor this coming January.

While he has no formal dancing experience, he has never been afraid to be that guy on the dancefloor.

"I absolutely cannot wait for January, I can't think of a better way to spend the next few months.

"At my age, to learn something completely new such as ballroom dancing is an amazing opportunity", he said.

Earlier this week, Amanda Byram and Nicky Byrne were confirmed to present the first series.

A total of 11 celebrities will pair up with their professional dancing partners to put their twinkle toes to the test.

Each pairing will have a different dancing genre to master every week, and they will have just seven days to perfect their routine.

They will be the scored by an expert panel of judges and the viewing public at home.

All the contestants will be safe for the first two shows, but after that one celeb and their dancing partner will leave the competition each week.

The show will air on RTÉ One for 12 weeks from Sunday January 8th.
