All but five of Met Eireann's stations around the country have seen record levels of rainfall for December.
The rainfall from the likes of Storms Desmond and Frank have contributed to the levels rising higher than any previous during the fifty-plus years of recording by the national weather service.
In the last month alone, Cork has experience three times the average rainfall expected for this time of year.
Met Eireann have warned that there will be at least another three weeks of heavy rainfall and storm-like conditions to be expected, and have issued a yellow weather warning.
The warning is in place for Wexford, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Waterford, where gales are expected to reach as high as 110km/h.
