Officals reported that another 11 people were killed in Veracruz.

Most of those died as a result of the landslides caused by the heavy rainfall and flooding.

Veracruz governor Javier Duarte has said a priority for authorities is assisting the hundreds of people who have been forced to flee their homes.

Earl made landfall in Mexico late last week after previously passing over Belize.

At least nine people were killed after the storm led to dangerous weather conditions in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

Separately, the US National Hurricane Centre has issued hurricane and tropical storm warnings as the newly-formed tropical storm Javier is expected to strengthen.

Hurricane conditions are forecast over Mexico's Baja California peninsula as a result of the latest storm to hit Central America.
