DCU's innovation campus has announced plans to grown their workforce to 800.

DCU’s Innovation campus, based at the nine acre former Enterprise Ireland Headquarters in Glasnevin, North Dublin, plans to host up to 100 domestic and overseas companies on the site within the next two years, employing up to 800 people.

The campus, which is being rebranded as DCU Alpha and which was launched just two years ago, currently hosts 30 companies and 350 jobs.

Two new location companies will be confirmed later today - Neosfar of Enniscorthy which manufactures communications equipment for the transport sector and the Indian Corporate learning company, NIIT.

According to Ronan Furlong, Executive Director of DCU Alpha, the DCU campus comprises a mix of both back office accommodation and large laboratory and engineering spaces required by companies manufacturing physical components for the rapidly-expanding, Cleantech, industrial automation and Internet of Things markets.

Ronan Furlong told Newstalk Business this morning: "We will probably grow... to at least 100 companies, both Irish and multinational. We will probably move from about 350 employees based there up towards 800 employees based there over the course of the next 3-5 years."
