A two-year-old Labrador has been sworn in as a ‘comfort dog’ in the US – but the ceremony did not quite go as planned.

The dog, named Pilot, was sworn in as a victim assistance K9 in Colorado on Wednesday.

Pilot will assist victim advocate Debbie Doyle at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department in comforting crime victims.

Therapy dogs in the US must attend classes for 12 weeks.

They then visit various facilities, to see where they may be most comfortable with their handlers.

Pilot was sworn in by Sheriff Tony Spurlock.

But the ceremony got off to a bit of a woof start...
