The Irish Coast Guard has issued a warning to people: not to go under large waves to photograph them.
It says several calls were received from the public on Sunday about people going under the waves to take pictures.

With easterly gale force winds reaching gale force eight on Monday, it says waves are expected to be breaking over some places during high tide.

The Coast Guard at Howth is advising the public not to walk the pier during high tide - between 10.00am and 4.00pm.
It says outside these times, people should exercise caution and use common sense.

"If you see the spray of the waves reaching on the pier don't walk it.
"Waves can be unpredictable, a lull of 10 minutes can be followed by intense waves powerful enough to knock you over and cause injury or wash you off the pier wall", it says.

It says actions such as these put the life of the person, and the lives of the Coast Guard and RNLI, at risk.
The Irish Coast Guard operations centre in Dublin received calls of people in danger of getting washed off the pier on Sunday.

A unit from Howth responded and assisted people back to safety.
