A 29-year-old man has been remanded in custody on gun charges relating to the shooting of a woman in Cork.
Gavin Sheehan of Laurel Ridge, Shanakiel was arrested in the early hours last Sunday morning by gardaí investigating the shooting in Hollyhill.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) decided to charge the man last night and bring him before Cork District Court.
The accused is charged with three offences - possessing a Smith and Wesson handgun, a 9 millimetre calibre round, and with recklessly discharging a weapon.
Gavin Sheehan made no reply when the charges were put to him.
Meanwhile, gardaí have released a man in his 60s who was arrested in Gurranabraher at around 5.00pm yesterday evening.
A woman who was arrested last Sunday was released without charge on Monday night and a file is to be prepared for the DPP.
21-year-old Ciara Sheehan remains in the intensive care unit at Cork University Hospital, where her condition is said to be stable.
