Ryanair's 'Always Getting Better' plan rumbles on today and it could mean savings for people just about to head out the door and fly with the low-fares airline.
The Irish company is reducing many of its baggage fees for shorter flights and 92% of customers should experience the cuts.
If you're taking a domestic flight of under two hours, your fees will be cut by up to 50%. That means a 15kg bag will now cost €15 and a 20kg bag will cost €25.
Passengers on all other flights under three hours should enjoy savings of up to 17%. So a 15kg bag will cost €25 and a 20kg bag will cost €35.
If you're travelling with Ryanair on any longer flights, there will be no change in the cost of your bags.
If you're booking online, however, fees are set to rise. For 15kg bags, they're bumped up 33% to €30, and 58% to €40 for longer routes.
Chief marketing officer Kenny Jacobs said in a statement:
"Over 92pc of our customers will enjoy reduced bag fees and will pay the same price for checking-in a bag whether bought at the time of the initial booking or added to the booking, regardless of seasonality.
"Furthermore, customers will also be able to add bags to their bookings via the Ryanair app up to 3 hours before their scheduled time of departure.
"These bag changes are in addition to our best-in-class cabin bag allowance, offering 2 free carry-on bags, and we’ll continue to offer the biggest and best choice of destinations, with the most on-time flights and a fantastic onboard experience, as we grow our fleet, traffic and routes – and all on the lowest fares".
Aer Lingus' online baggage fees, meanwhile, have jumped from €15 to €25 for 15kg bags and from €20 to €35 for 20kg bags. For longer flights to the likes of Greece and the Canary Islands, they have gone up to €35 and €45 respectively.
