There are fears the death toll could rise after the worst flooding in a decade across central Europe.

In the Czech Republic, 6 people died as the waters of the Vltava river in Prague overflowed, prompting a state of emergency to be declared.

While in Austria, 2 people have died and 2 more are missing after flooding which arose from several days of torrential rainfall.

Parts of Germany, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland have also been affected.

Czech officials say the flood defences in Prague should hold, but that the river level is likely to rise again this morning.
